About Me
I started sewing when I was pretty young under my mother’s tutelage. I remember a green pinafore skirt that I made for myself. I didn’t start quilting until my firstborn was 3 years old. My mother kept saying that I would like quilting but until he was three I couldn’t focus. She practically forced me to use the rotary cutter and cut out a foundation square that we sewed strips to on the diagonal. Then I continued and I never stopped!
I started with traditional quilts but appreciate modern and art quilts so much that I have tried my hand there also. I love bright colors and vivid designs. I’ll try just about anything though. I am always drawn to the work of Sharon Schamber and Caryl Bryer Fallert but there is hardly an end to the list of quilters I admire greatly.
My favorite quilt is usually the one I’m working on but I am very proud of one that I made from foundation papers by George Siciliano using my hand dyes. Lately I have been lecturing and teaching binding methods.
Before retiring I was a computer consultant/programmer/manager. I held a lot of classes on the software we worked with and that is where my love of teaching comes from. I am also on a travel tennis team and working toward the playoffs! I have a grown son who is a middle school teacher and a daughter who is an Art Therapist.
